Mondays ⋅ 6:30 - 9:00pm ⋅ Feb 23 - Apr 6
This class is for confident potters who are ready to push their skills further. We’ll focus on refining technique while exploring larger forms, advanced construction, and more complex projects. You’ll complete pieces throughout the course, but the emphasis is on learning, control, and problem-solving, rather than production.
Come with ideas and inspiration! Whether that’s new forms you want to try, functional challenges to tackle, or projects you’ve been wanting to attempt (like teapots or other complex vessels). The goal of this class is to make new shapes with greater ease and control, develop your ideas into finished pieces, and deepen your understanding of the fundamentals behind quality pottery.

-Minimum of two beginner wheel classes and ample self-directed studio time
-Ability to wedge and centre 2 lbs of clay consistently, without assistance
-Comfortable throwing basic cylinders and bowls
-Working knowledge of trimming fundamentals

Friday Night Throw Downs
$180 + GST / couple
Friday Nights from 6:30pm - 8:30pm | See upcoming dates listed at the top of this page.
Bring your date, your mother, your brother—whoever you want! This one-time, 2-hour pottery lesson is designed for beginners and pairs. You’ll each have your own wheel and learn the condensed basics of wheel throwing in a fun, step-by-step group setting.
Your instructor will start with a short demo, and then guide everyone through the process together. After that, you can choose to keep following along or try things out on your own. You’re welcome to make as many pieces as you like, and at the end of class you’ll each select your two favourite creations to keep. If you fall in love with more than two pieces, you can keep extras for $10 per piece. At the end of your session we’ll show you a range of 8 glaze colour options; you choose your final colours and then we take care of the trimming, firing, and glazing.
Optional finishing touches: You can choose to have our team turn your vessels into Milk Jar candles ($3/oz of coconut-soy wax) or have us pot a succulent or cactus in your creation ($7–$20 per plant).
Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup in about 2–3 weeks—we’ll email you when they’re ready!
A few things to know in advance:
— Clay can be unpredictable—cracks, glaze variations, and other surprises can happen in the firing process. We do our best to prevent issues, but each piece is truly one of a kind!
— Be prepared to get a little messy: aprons and small towels are provided. Wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, and tie back long hair. The final ~20 minutes of class are for cleanup and glaze selection.
One FNTD Purchase = 2 Seats! Please purchase 1 per couple. This event is 18+.
