Get Your Hands Dirty

What to Expect

In a private lesson, you’ll be paired with one of our instructors who will guide your group every step of the way. We’ll start with a quick demo, then help you dive into making your own pieces - no experience needed! After your session, we take care of trimming, glazing, and firing. Your finished pottery will be ready for pick-up in about 2–3 weeks.

You can choose between wheel throwing or hand building. Both are beginner-friendly, just a little different in pace and style:

  • Wheel Throwing is faster-paced and creative. Expect to get a little messy and make several small unique pieces. Make as many as you like throughout the lesson, then each choose your two favorites to keep! Want to keep more? There’s a $10 fee per extra piece.

  • Hand Building is slower-paced and more detail-oriented. You’ll be working on a tabletop using rolled slabs or coiling techniques to create one functional piece like a mug or small planter. If you have a specific project in mind, let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to tailor the session!

At the end of the lesson, you’ll select which glazes you’d like your pieces finished with (the colours your pots will be)!

We also offer some optional finishing touches, like turning your pots into milk jar candles ($3/oz) or planting a cactus or succulent in your piece (cacti $7–$20).
